It's Wednesday - one more week to be 49 years old. Seven days till we start pedaling from the beach in La Jolla on my birthday!
I have 1,460 miles on my odometer and all the lettering is worn off my gel pad seat cover.
Need to make an adjustment to my brakes and my gears, but I think that's about it.
We've spent a bunch of money on plane tickets for drivers and on gear and stuff.
Got the 4Runner ready to drive to SoCal, and paid for the maintenance on the camper!

Saturday is Suzanne's birthday, so we are leaving early with Hayden and all of our stuff and meeting her for birthday breakfast in Sacramento on our way down to Huffaker's.
We wouldn't be able to do the trip if it wasn't for everyone pitching in and helping us with the driving, the pets, keeping our apartment, etc. We are so lucky to have such a terrific family and such great friends. Can't wait to get started...
This is the story of Peter and Karen Wolfe planning and executing a bicycle trip across the US. The trip began April 18th from La Jolla, CA and is set to end on July 4th at York Town, VA. We have borrowed a 21-foot motorhome from our cousins. We sleep in the rv at night and it drags all of our stuff. Various drivers are taking turns supporting us and meeting us to bring water and set up our camping spot each night.
I am so enjoying reading your prep stuff about this trip! Can't wait to hear the real stories from the road. My hubby is an avid road cyclist so I really "get" a lot of what goes into something like this. Good luck and great fun to you both! Nancy Wright (WC tapper)
